Based on an early-age incident, Secondary Dominance, a dance- and music-centric 82-minute autofictional experimental documentary, kaleidoscopically explores trauma through the dual prisms of art and science. A neuroscientist invites an artist to speak at a medical conference on PTSD and the brain. During her talk, she reads a letter she wrote to her childhood sexual abuser, igniting a high-voltage ride through her psychological landscape, illuminating the nonlinearity of memory and our capacity, as humans, to transform through this complexity...

Secondary Dominance will have its world premiere at the Center for Contemporary Arts Santa Fe, February 26 - March 4, 2027.
It will screen throughout the week, anchored by two eventized nights. One will feature Executive Producer Godfrey Reggio introducing the film, followed by a multidisciplinary panel exploring memory, perception, and artistic process. A second will center on the film's soundtrack, including a live performance of the film's theme song by Small and her singing partner, Willa Roberts.
The premiere will extend into Santa Fe's rich community of artists, scientists, and cultural institutions through intimate conversations, academic programming, and participatory workshops.
Following this week, Secondary Dominance will embark on a 5-city screening tour at art house cinemas around the country.
